Miranda Shorebird Centre is on the south west coast of the Firth of Thames, 7 km south of the small coastal village of Kaiaua. We are just one hour south east of Auckland city, half an hour from the Coromandel Peninsula and 80 minutes from Hamilton.

From Auckland:From end of Southern Motorway turn left at State Highway 2 -Signed Coromandel/Tauranga Turn off Highway 2 to Mangatawhiri, follow the road to Mangatangi Road, signposted Mirana / Kaiaua. Follow this road until the junction of Miranda Road and East Coast Road. Turn left onto East Coast Road – the Shorebird Centre is 3 km on the left. From Hamilton:from SH 2 turn onto SH 25. At Waitakaruru turn left onto Miranda Road. After about 8 km turn right onto East Coast Road – the Shorebird Centre is 3 km on the left. From Thames:turn at Kopu onto SH 25 to Waitakaruru. Turn right onto Miranda Road. After about 8 km turn right onto East Coast Road – the Shorebird Centre is 3 km on the left.
