Accommodation

The Shorebird Centre has self-contained units as well as bunkrooms for hire. Details and tariffs are as follows:

Whimbrel Wing: fully self-contained unit with en suite facilities and two single beds - Members $50 per night for two members, non members $60.00 for two people.

Sandpiper Suite: fully self-contained unit with en suite facilities, a fold-down double bed , together with optional four bunks in an adjoining room. Members $50 per night for two members, non members $60.00 for two people, $15.00 each extra member, $20.00 each extra non member (school age children $15.00).

Bunk Rooms: In addition the Centre has two 6-bunk rooms and one 4-bunk room, with full communal cooking facilities and ablution areas. Members $15.00 per night, non-members $20.00 per person (school age children $15.00).

What to bring:
· People staying at the Centre only need to bring food and bedding. However a limited amount of bedding (linen and duvets) is available for hire for $5.00 per person. All areas have mattresses and pillows.
· Bring Food
A shop and petrol station can be found at Kaiaua just 7 kilometres north of the Shorebird Centre. This village also offers excellent hotel cuisine as well as New Zealand's best fish and chip shop!
· Bring a swim suit for swimming at the Miranda Hot Pools just down the road.

The Shorebird Centre is normally open 7 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. Please phone or email us in advance if you are planning a special visit.
