March 11th Autumn Migration Day from 8am See the Arctic birds at their best. High tide 10:00am so birdwatching FIRST, It’s a big tide so be early then TALK at 11 a.m.  Guest Speaker: Gerry Kessels – ‘Windfarms & Waders’

May 13  Annual General Meeting  10 a.m. AGM followed by a talk, then birdwatching. High tide 1:15 pm Guest Speaker: Brett Gartrell – ‘The Rena Wildlife Response’ Brett a vet from Massey has fronted the news during the Rena saga and has been involved with Miranda Field course and the implanting on transmitters in godwits

October 21  Welcome To The Birds Day 10.00 a.m.  Guest Speaker  Brian Gill – Museum Mystery Musings Brian is curator of invertebrates at Auckland Museum and has many interesting topics to talk about, which one will it be? high Tide 12:40 so birdwatching after the talk

Courses 2012

21-27 January 2012 The Miranda Field Course. Now in its fourteenth year the Miranda Field Course is perfect for any naturalist. Topics covered in past courses have included geology, botany, and entomology, but with a focus on birds, identification, catching, and details on ecology of some of our shorebirds. Course fee includes all materials, teaching, food and accommodation. All tutors experts in their fields. Limited to 12 students (age range so far 14 to 82 on previous courses).
