2015 Open Days and Events

2015 is the Pukorokoro Miranda Naturalists’ Trust’s 40th Birthday.  Reflecting this the guest speaker lineup is very special.

February 21 Saturday
Celebration Luncheon
Join us for this 40th birthday bash.  Speakers to be Miranda folk with their stories.  Cost is $30 per person and bookings essential as places will be limited.  So contact the Centre early.

 
March 15th Sunday 10am
Pavel Tomkovich: Waders of Siberia Revisited.  Catch up on 15 years of wader work in Siberia since Pavel was last here.
High tide 14:40 so birdwatching after lunch
May 24 Sunday 10am
AGM Guest speaker to be announced. High tide 12:00 birdwatching after AGM

Scott Weidensaul American Naturalist and Writer of books on migration. 
High tide 12:30 so birdwatching afterwards.

Theunis Piersma – Dutch Wader biologist returns to NZ after 10 years.  High tide 16:45 so birdwatching afterwards.

17-23 January Miranda Field Course.  Currently full – contact the centre to register your interest for 2016.  Dates will be in January, Further details to be advised.

September 8-10: New Zealand Dotterel Management Course.
Aimed at agencies, community groups and volunteers involved with monitoring and managing dotterels.

Jan 2016   The Miranda Field Course.
The Miranda Field Course is perfect for any naturalist. Topics covered in past courses have included geology, botany, and entomology, but with a focus on birds, identification, catching, and details on ecology of some of our shorebirds.
